Marriage is like...
Family life

Marriage is like...

Marriage is what you make of it.

Some marriages are something out of a Disney film.

There is the fairy tale ending that everyone desires.

Marriage is what you make of it.

I always wondered in my earlier years if the fairy tale ending just happens to everyone.

Now being older and married myself I am assuming it doesn't.

Just like many girls were under false understanding that it just happens to everyone.

The fairy tale ending does not happen to everyone that is clear now.

I will tell you I was a little disappointed to find out I had to put in work.

I will tell you my husband was a little disappointed to find out he had to put in work.

Work is something no one told me I would have to put into my marriage to get the best days out of it.

And right there is where everything went wrong for us.

Me and my husband are extremely open on social media about the chaos our marriage has endured.

Which makes many people who are our friends and family extremely uncomfortable.

And that's okay & let me tell you why.

No marriage is perfect.

And for us we are okay will admitting our marriage has had some bumpy patches, flawed moments & sad chapters in it.

Did we almost call it a quit?

Absolutely!

So what.

Did we used to fight all the time over the most ridiculous things?

Sure we did.

So what.

Together we overcame endless hurdles.

Which is pretty remarkable.

No marriage is perfect.

And for us we decided we would never have a textbook perfect marriage.

We would have a marriage that perfectly works for us.

We would have a marriage that perfectly supports each other in the hard times & during the best times.

We have a marriage that has experienced the worst times together & the best times.

We have a marriage that is full of regrets but also endless forgiveness.

We have a marriage that is based on trust & communication.

We got to this point in our marriage & let me tell you it was years of work.

Years of compromise & years of staying together was better because we both want to continue to put the work in.

Marriage is what you make of it & for us we are making the most of knowing we simply won't ever have the fairy tale ending.

But instead we have all the time in the world to continue to put in the work & make sure it's the perfect marriage for us to stay thriving in together.
